‘All the things that Metals doesn't do'

Katarzyna Marek, Scala Developer working at VirtusLab as a Metals maintainer.

Metals serves as a Scala language server compatible with various editors such as VSCode, NeoVim, and Sublime Text. Rather than handling every task independently, Metals distributes numerous subtasks to a range of tools and libraries. This presentation will provide an overview of these essential components that contribute to the Metals experience, offering users insight into the inner workings of Metals.

‘Grackle - Scala GraphQL Server’

Rafał Piotrowski - software developer focused on functional programming in Scala with broad experience with back-end systems for web applications.

This talk will present Grackle, which is a GraphQL server for the Typelevel stack. There will be a short introduction to GraphQL as a solution for the typed APIs. The main focus will be on presenting Grackle as a great tool to serve data from different data sources. There will be some live examples showing how to serve data from an SQL database and other live web service. I'll not cover how Grackle is implemented, but you will see a high-level design, which might make you think of compilers since Grackle has a purely functional engine to transform GraphQL into internal query language, transform it, and finally interpret to execute the query.

See you soon!
